Visited LA for 3 nights while traveling via Amtrak. Booking a shared room helped me save money. Hotel is not too far from Union Station by Uber. Being within walking distance of groceries, restaurants, malls, drug stores, Target meant I did not need to Uber. It's also within walking distance of local bus and metro train transportation for anyone wanting to venture out a bit further to Holywood Blvd, Rodeo Dr, Santa Monica or Venice Beach. Staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel and rooms were clean.

This was a great spot for a quick trip. The building is beautiful, with a really cool lobby and shared spaces. It’s also within walking distance of a lot. The best part was the service. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, although Liz was a standout. At checkout time there were a lot of people demanding her attention and she handled everyone with patience and kindness. The rooms are definitely tight, so may not be the best for people with a lot of luggage. Make sure to checkout rooftop lounge & pool.

This place was great! The gentleman in the front Arturo was more than helpful. I lost the diamond out of my wedding ring and just thought I’d call and ask if they can keep an eye out for it in the room. He actually went to look that moment and found it!!! He definitely is an all star. Company is lucky to have him.

A great place for exploring downtown Los Angeles, a plenty of cafes nearby, Whole Foods, and fairly affordable parking options. The rooms are quite clean, nothing amazing, but nothing bad either. The city views are impressive both during the day and at night. The only downside I have to mention is the lack of drinking water, both in the room and at the front desk.

An awesome hostel to stay and party at. The roof top pool bar and restaurant is a great way to start any night in LA. Great opportunity to meet other travellers. Rooms are very clean, large, among the best for the number of beds. Remember to book online, I've walked up a few times and can't get a bed

The Freehand Hotel in Downtown LA was a fantastic stay. They were incredibly responsive when we booked at short notice, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The room was extremely comfortable, and the staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. On top of that, the location is ideal for exploring DTLA. And all at a great price. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay at the Freehand Hotel! The atmosphere was stylish and welcoming, and everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable. I especially want to shout out the valet service — Angel was amazing! He was so friendly, professional, and incredibly efficient. Every time we needed our car, he had it ready within minutes and always greeted us with a smile. His positive attitude really stood out and made our experience even better. Highly recommend staying here — great location, great service, and great people!

The only downside is the parking, this location does valet but a bit pricey. We parked across from Whole Foods in the structure, $25 overnight. Enjoyed our stay, the rooms have a warm and cozy tone. Clean and great view of downtown. The building is dated and you can tell in the shower, however it doesn’t take away from the experience. Personally I believe it gives it a nice touch and retro vibe. Some modern looks are too box and dry. These rooms have character. Will likely comeback.
